WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTENSIVE HEALING PROGRAM
Programming seeks to heal clients from within by improving spiritual wellness while laying the groundwork for permanent recovery. Our curriculum fuses the 12-step program with clinical programming to help clients nourish their bodies from substances while addressing the underlying issues that lead to substance use, such as trauma, family dynamics, and self-defeating behavior patterns, in individual and group therapy sessions.
Each day is fully scheduled with programming that discusses topics including but not limited to:
- Recovery from trauma
- Family of origin patterns
- Attachment styles
- Developing healthy relationships and intimacy
Our goal at Makana Path is to heal old belief systems that are limiting clients in multiple areas of our lives. The intensive healing program takes a holistic approach that utilizes a combination of clinical and complementary therapies, including:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- 12-step education
- Individual assignments
- Physical exercise with a certified personal trainer
- Healthy meal preparation
As a part of the BRC Healthcare, we are proponents of the 12-step program. However, our intensive healing program is not 12-step based. Patients have the opportunity to participate in 12-step education, but our programs are primarily clinically-driven.
A relapse is best defined as a return to addictive behaviors that previously lead to an addiction. Relapse is a common part of recovery, as there is no straight line of the process but practicing healthy coping skills. Even after treatment, multiple studies have shown that recovering patients are 60% more likely to relapse. WHATS THE 12 STEP PROGRAM IN RECOVERY?

With foundations in Christianity, the 12-Step Program is structured around the member submitting to a higher power to commit to the healing process. This plan is beneficial due to the support model that allows other members to guide the recovery process. The 12-Step Program can be very transformative for those struggling with addiction, but more secular approaches are available.
Spiritual healing therapy has credit in bridging a connection outside of your addiction. The components of the 12-Step Program in our Austin rehabilitation centers include:

- Believing whichever higher power can guide you
- Grant permission for the higher power to take over

Despite being created for Alcoholics Anonymous, the positive experiences Wilson learned branched into Narcotics, Heroin, and Gambling Anonymous through the Big Book. The practice of the 12-Step Model encourages people to look after each other and themselves in the fight for abstinence. Group therapy sessions are meant for open communication and provide support for people at varying stages of recovery. The tools provided by the 12-Step Program prep those struggling with a sense of relief and enriches their mental health.
WHATS THE IMPORTANCE OF DETOX AND WHAT TO EXPECT AFTERWARDS
It’s been nine days since you’ve had a drink. You’ve struggled with alcohol addiction for four years, and the memories of drinking to escape flood you during detox. Detoxification is the first step of recovery because it targets the cleansing of the body from addictive substances. Since our brains are hardwired to repeat pleasurable experiences, the pathways for compulsive behaviors begin to form as a person makes a routine out of use.
